About NAPGER: The Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, has established a "National Plant Gene Repository (NAPGER)" at National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi. The National facility serve as a backup for Clones (cDNA, ESTs, Genomic, Promoter), recombinant constructs and DNA libraries (E. coli & BAC) of plant origin generated by various investigators in India for their collection, long term storage, and distribution among researchers. About the Workshop: The main goal of the workshop is to familiarize the participants with the advances in Plant Gene Repository and Plant Gene Databases.
Workshop Topics: All Three days will involve lectures and hands on training sessions about Plant Gene Repository and Plant Gene Databases. Different topics for example, Next Generation Gene Cloning and Characterization, Update on Plant Gene Databases, Bioinformatic search and Gene mining using the Databases, Handling of databases will be covered in the workshop.

Workshop Timing: 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

  • August 29, 2014: Notification of Acceptance to Selected Candidates
Registration Details: The registration fee for the workshop is Rs.1000/- per participant.
Registration fee includes:
  • Participation in the workshop
  • Tea/coffee breaks and lunches for all three days of the workshop
  • Certificate for successful completion.
  • Accommodation is not included in the registration fee. Participants will have to arrange for their own accommodation.
Dully filled in and signed Registration Form in the prescribed format with all the details mentioned and the Registration Fee in the form of Demand Draft from any nationalized bank in favour of the "National Institute of Plant Genome Research" payable at New Delhi must reach on/or before August 25, 2014 to:

Eligibility: Faculty, Scientists and Students (Post graduate and Research Scholars). Academician and Researchers from Universities, Government Departments, Colleges, Research Institutes and Industries.
Number of Participants: The total number of selected participants is limited to 15 on first cum first basis.
Selection and Registration: The selected participants will be intimated by email and/or post latest by August 29, 2014. The registration fee is non-refundable for selected participants. However, the demand draft towards Registration fee of the candidates not selected shall be returned.
