Health of our family and community depends on our economy and biodiversity. Biodiversity means degree of variation of life in our surroundings, and at large- variety of living beings on earth. In biodiversity, each species regardless of their size, no matter how big or small, plays an important role in ecosystem to ensure natural sustainability for all life forms.
Biodiversity provides us variety of foods, traditional and modern medicines and industrial materials. Unfortunately, over utilisation of resources, deforestation, overpopulation, pollution and global warming is responsible for the continuous extinction of many species and loss of biodiversity. Consequently, it is also affecting our health and economy.
We need to understand that even if a small component of our environment breaks down, the whole system’s balance is threatened, and climate crisis is one of the examples. Therefore, it is important to raise the awareness among public for the protection of biodiversity.
In this connection- to raise the awareness among public, National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR) is organising National Science day Public lectures on “Biodiversity of National capital Region (NCR)” on February 28, 2020 at Auditorium, NIPGR, New Delhi.
These public lectures are open for students, teachers as well as for the public. Registration is free and seats are limited, therefore interested candidates may register early to fix their spot. For group registration of school and colleges, please send participants details through email at social@nipgr.ac.in. Participation will be confirmed by email with program details.
