Post-Graduation level |
Outstanding students in post-graduate programme of other Institutions can carry out project work under the supervision of the Institute's scientists towards partial fulfillment of the post-graduate degree.
The training can be carried out for a minimum period of 3 to 6 months.
The requests must come from the Heads of Departments, and must provide the academic resumes of the recommended student(s) as well as the period of proposed project work. These should be sent to the concerned scientist directly.
Request will be considered on the basis of available vacancies. Each scientist can accommodate maximum of two trainees at a given time.
The minimal eligibility criterion for consideration of the requests is first division or an equivalent grade (or at least 60% of aggregate scores) in graduation or equivalent exam.

Under Graduate Level |
As an attempt to introduce the Bachelor Degree students to Plant Biotechnology Research and to bridge the gap between classroom and lab, options are available for short-term/summer trainees. The student must have completed 2 years of B. Sc. or 3 years of B. Tech. education and should have scored first division or an equivalent grade (or at least 60% marks) in class XIIth and examination given in B. Sc./B. Tech. till the time of application. The training can be carried out for a period of 2 months. A faculty can train a maximum of one Bachelor student in a calendar year. The request for training must come from the Head of the Department, along with the proposed period, and can be addressed directly to the Scientist who will be responsible for taking the desired approval. Request for training must include bio-data and Statement-of-Purpose (SOP).

Opportunities are also available for trainees in the Institute through sponsored programmes from Government agencies such as the KVPY, JNCASR, INSA/IAS/NASI. The Institute is unable to entertain direct applications from candidates seeking such placements.
