Qualification: Candidates having Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences or related field with good publication record in journals of international repute and good academic record (i.e., overall, 55% marks throughout the academic carrier) are eligible to apply. An experience with gene cloning, protein expression, and protein purification (affinity chromatography and size exclusion chromatography) is mandatory. Experience in macromolecular crystallography and studying protein-nucleic acid interaction through biophysical and biochemical assays or an experience with FPLC/HPLC will get additional preference. The experience should be supported with documentary evidence/publications.

National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi is an Autonomous Research Institution funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, to pursue research on various aspects of plant genomics. The Institute is also in the process of establishing a NIPGR Translational Centre at Biotech Science Cluster, NCR, Faridabad. NIPGR invites applications from Indian Citizens for filling up the vacant posts of Scientists on Direct Recruitment basis, as detailed below.

Applicant should have excellent academic credentials along with the track record of scientific productivity evidenced by publications/patents/products in the frontier areas of Plant Biology such as, Computational Biology; Multiomics, System & Structural Biology; Genome Analysis and Molecular Mapping; Molecular Mechanism of Abiotic Stress Responses; Plant-Pathogen/Microbe Interactions; Plant Immunity; Nutritional Genomics; Plant Development and Architecture; Molecular Breeding, Gene Editing and Transgenics for crop improvement and other emerging areas in plant biology.

• As per extant instructions, SC/ST/Women candidates are exempt from application fee.

General terms & conditions :

• These posts carry usual allowances i.e. Dearness Allowances, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance etc., as admissible to the Central Government employees and as made applicable in NIPGR. The Pay Levels mentioned above are as per the pay structure of VIIth Pay Commission of the Government of India. Other benefits including NPS, Medical Reimbursement, Leave Travel Concession, Leave Encashment, Gratuity etc. are admissible as per rules of the Institute.


• All applicants must fulfill the requirements of the post and other conditions stipulated in the advertisement as on the last date of the receipt of application. Upper age limit: 35 years.

Eligibility: For JRF, candidates selected through National Eligibility Tests as mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019 and having M.Sc. degree or equivalent (with minimum 60% marks) in Life Science/ Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Botany or any other branch of life science are eligible. For PA-I, candidates having M.Sc./M.Tech degree (with minimum of 60% marks or equivalent) in Life Science/ Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Botany or any other branch of life science as per the DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated August 21, 2019 are eligible for interview.

Candidates having prior work experience of more than one year in plant molecular biology, rice tissue culture, CRISPR-Cas9 system are encouraged to apply. The experience should be supported with documentary evidences.

The Fellowship amount for the above position is at par with the similar fellowships by DBT/DST. The above position is completely on temporary basis with a maximum duration of three years. The initial appointment will be for a period of one year, which can be curtailed or extended based on the performance of the candidate and discretion of the Competent Authority.
