 Research Interests
Nitrogen is a major plant nutrient and a main component of chemical fertilizers. Nitrogenous fertilizers have enhanced crop yields. However, this has come at a significant economic and environmental cost. On the other hand symbiotic nodule development in legumes alleviates the use of chemical fertilizers and is of high significance in modern agriculture. We are interested to understand the nodule development in chickpea using a number of different methodologies including genetics, genomics, molecular and cellular biology.
