MICROARRAY

Microarray

Scientist in-charge: Dr. Aashish Ranjan & Dr. Jitendra Kumar Thakur

Overview

DNA Microarrays consist of DNA molecules named the "probes", that are arranged at a microscopic scale onto a solid support such as a membrane or a glass microscope slide. The array elements bind specifically to labelled RNA/DNA molecules, the "targets", generating signals that reveal the identity and the concentration of the target molecules. Microarray analysis has a broad range of applications that involve different types of probes and/or targets. DNA microarray analysis is a fast and versatile approach to achieve high throughput explorations of gene expression, genome structure, and gene function.
