BRIC-NIPGR has established itself as a leading institution in plant genomics and molecular biology. My vision is to transform the Institute into a globally recognized center of excellence that integrates cutting-edge research with innovation, technology development, and societal impact, while contributing significantly to India’s aspirations of achieving food and nutritional security, climate resilience, and a robust bioeconomy.<\/p>

Scientific excellence will remain the foundation of our mission. We will pursue frontier research in plant genomics, molecular biology, genome editing, synthetic biology, systems biology, artificial intelligence, computational biology, and multi-omics technologies to generate new knowledge and address fundamental questions in plant science. Equally important, we will ensure that these discoveries are translated into practical solutions for agriculture through improved crop varieties, genome-edited crop plants, advanced breeding tools, and digital technologies.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Climate-resilient agriculture will be a major institutional priority, aligned with the National BioE3 policy and India’s Bioeconomy Vision. Our research will focus on developing crops that can withstand drought, heat, salinity, flooding, and emerging pests and diseases while improving resource-use efficiency, nutritional quality, and sustainability. By integrating genomics with advanced phenotyping, predictive breeding, and data-driven approaches, we will accelerate the development of technologies that enable farmers to adapt to changing climatic conditions.<\/p>

I want to embed this spirit of innovation across all our research programs, building an ecosystem that encourages interdisciplinary collaboration, high-risk and high-impact research, intellectual property generation, and technology validation. We will strengthen facilities for genome editing, crop transformation, phenomics, bioinformatics, and molecular breeding to support next-generation research.<\/p>

A strong ecosystem depends on close engagement beyond our own walls. BRIC-NIPGR will foster partnerships with seed companies, biotechnology and agri-tech enterprises, start-ups, and venture investors through collaborative research, technology licensing, co-development programs, and public-private partnerships to accelerate commercialization. We will also actively nurture entrepreneurship, supporting faculty and student start-ups and facilitating incubation, mentorship, and access to investment networks, so that scientific discoveries can evolve into viable products, enterprises, and employment opportunities that contribute to national economic growth.<\/p>

As India advances towards a knowledge-driven bioeconomy, BRIC-NIPGR will play a pivotal role by developing sustainable biotechnologies, driving high-value agricultural innovations, generating comprehensive multi-omics resources, and creating valuable intellectual property to strengthen the nation’s scientific, agricultural, and economic growth. Our research will contribute to enhancing agricultural productivity, conserving biodiversity, promoting sustainable resource management, and strengthening the competitiveness of India’s biotechnology and agriculture sectors.<\/p>

Strong partnerships with BRIC institutions, ICAR institutes, State Agricultural Universities, international research organizations, government agencies, farmers, and industry will ensure that our research addresses real-world challenges and reaches the end users efficiently. These collaborations will accelerate technology development, validation, field deployment, and large-scale adoption.<\/p>

Equally important to me is nurturing an institutional culture founded on scientific integrity, inclusiveness, collaboration, transparency, and accountability. We will invest in outstanding faculty, young investigators, postdoctoral fellows, students, technical professionals, and administrative staff by providing world-class infrastructure, mentorship, training, and opportunities for interdisciplinary research and leadership.<\/p>

My vision is for BRIC-NIPGR to be recognized not only for pioneering scientific discoveries and high-impact publications but also for breakthrough technologies, successful technology transfers, thriving start-ups, strategic industry partnerships, valuable intellectual property, skilled human resources, and transformative contributions to climate-resilient agriculture and India’s bioeconomy. Together, we will advance plant genomics from discovery to innovation, from innovation to deployment, and from scientific excellence to societal impact.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
